VIII Pan-American Women's Volleyball Cup 2009 The world of Volleyball collides here in Miami, June 26 – July 5th with the 2009 Women’s Volleyball Pan-American Cup! Miami, like no other city, is the perfect blend of culture, style, entertainment and amazing weather for this prestigious event. Watch as the BEST women volleyball players from North, Central, and South America bump, set and spike their way to the top in this exciting PanAm Championship event. Competition will take place over the course of 10 days at 2 venues, BankUnited Center at the University of Miami, and US Century Bank Arena at FIU. USA Volleyball, in collaboration with the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, is hosting its first-ever Women’s Pan-American Cup, which serves as a qualifying event into the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix. The event, which will have two of the three medalists from the 2008 Olympic Games, is the largest international volleyball event ever hosted by USA Volleyball in terms of country participation. Brazil won the 2008 Olympic Games gold medal by defeating silver medalist USA in the title match. Both teams are currently ranked in the top three in the current FIVB World Rankings.
