VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Event: 2010 IJF World Cup Miami, US Open and North/Central American Judo Championship

Event Dates: August 25 – 31, 2010 (Competition: 8/27 – 8/30)

Hours: Varies

Event Description: The IJF World Cup is an A level World Event and an Olympic Qualifier for the 2012 Games in London. The US Open Judo Championship is a USA Judo International Event. The North/Central American Judo Championship is a qualifier for the Pan American Championships. These events will draw Elite judo athletes from all over the world to Miami to compete. The event will take place at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in the Ballroom.

Volunteer Position Description: Volunteers are needed to assist in the following areas: Venue Security, Hotel Hospitality, Airport Greeters, Tournament Set-Up Crew, Event Registration, Weigh In Control, Awards Coordination, Mat Crew, Ticket Takers, Medical, Transportation (drivers).

INTERN/JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Position: Director of Public Relations

Wage/Salary: Compensation commensurate with experience

Position Description: In the Director of Public Relations position, we are seeking candidates who possess extremely proactive and creative outreach skills necessary to create initiatives that will translate into increased ticket sales. The duties of this position—we emphasize—extend well beyond simply reacting/managing the existing media. Director of Public Relations will be charged with brainstorming, initiating and producing big-picture, high-impact “growth” tasks tied to the promotion of ticket sales.

Position Requirements: B.A. in PR/Journalism/Communications/Related Field and 5 years Communications related experience. Excellent writing skills and proficiency with AP Style to contribute to both on- and off-line content. Ability to aggressively and proactively generate fresh, creative story angles and sources to provide to both local and national media across multiple beats (motorsports, lifestyle, business, entertainment). Eagerness to contribute to Consumer Marketing and Corporate Sales departments new ideas integrating PR efforts aimed at increasing both media coverage and ticket sales. Strong resourcefulness and eagerness to tap into knowledge of industry colleagues. Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel.

Position: Promotions Manager

Position Description: Homestead-Miami Speedway is seeking a Promotions Manager with a minimum of two (2) years of consumer-event/marketing experience. We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual who is experienced in all aspects of promotions/marketing to create and manage promotions tied to Homestead-Miami Speedway, host to the series-crowning Championships of NASCAR and the IndyCar Series, as well as the Grand-Am Sports Car Series. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic about promotion, preferably with a working knowledge of, and passion for, motorsports. Position: Ticket Manager

Company: Homestead-Miami Speedway

Wage/Salary: Compensation commensurate with experience

Position Description: Manage Ticket Operations at track including but not limited to ticket sales, management of staff, ticket reporting, ticket system, analysis and event operations. Establish business rules that apply to the ticketing system and work with the ISC Ticketing Application team in properly setting up the ticketing system, including the areas of venue/event setup, ticket renewals and print batch management. Manages ticketing staff. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees.
