VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Event: Bacardi Miami Sailing Week Featuring the Bacardi Cup
Event Dates: 03/07/10 through 03/13/10
Hours: Varies daily from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Event Description: 2010 will mark the first annual BACARDI Miami Sailing Week (BMSW). The event will be a six-day experience that will gather National and International sailing classes and personalities together in a historic and fun-filled week of regattas, awards — ceremonies, parties, and cultural exhibits. BMSW will also host an art show by photographer Corey Silken (free to the public). The racing begins on Monday, March 8, 2010 with events scheduled daily through Saturday, March 13, 2010. The prestigious 83rd running of the BACARDI Cup will be the main feature event of the weeklong regattas.
Volunteer Position Description
Media Center Staff (2 positions):
Assist the Press Officer in managing all media center activity and flow of supplies. Participants will enjoy an inside glimpse of the inner workings of press coverage for the event. The Media Center will be located inside City Hall in Dinner Key.
Daily, March 7-13th from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Event Headquarters Staff (1 position):
Provide assistance to event managers at the Dinner key site. Helper
will need to be available daily in order to assist participants and help
STUDIOMILANO, a boutique marketing firm in charge of the
event, coordinate efforts.

VIP Tent Staff (2 positions)
Helpers will need to assist the hospitality managers in running the
VIP tent and serving.

Sponsor Assistants (2 Positions)
Helpers will need to organize and supervise the sponsors’ area and
Bacardi Cocktail area according to the designated activity.

Hospitality Village Volunteer Leader (2 Positions)
Will manage and supervise all volunteers in the Hospitality Village and the Corey Silken Art show. This position will be a liaison between volunteers and event management.

On-Site Registration
Helpers will assist STUDIOMILANO assemble VIP gift bags and set-up distribution during the three registration events:
Registration days as per schedule:
Sunday 3/7: 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday 3/9: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday 3/10: 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Art Exhibit Volunteer (3 Positions)
Helpers will work on the Art Show floor assisting visitors and the
exhibiting photographer himself.
Daily, March 7-13th from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Daytime Security Patrol (1 Position)
Will monitor area security and VIP tent access, reporting to the
event managers and to the police if necessary.

Entrance and Parking Monitor (2 Positions)
Attend the Hospitality and parking areas and help maximize
parking space. Will work with the Daytime Security Patrol and report to event management.

Trailer Parking Monitor (1 Position)
Monitor will coordinate and maximize boat trailer parking activities.

Boat Ramp Monitor (1 position)
Monitor will coordinate all boats launching and returning from
the Seminole Boat ramps.
Daily, March 9th and 13th from:
March 9th: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
March 13th: 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Car Show Assistant Coordinator (2 positions)
An exciting opportunity for any fan of fine automobiles to help coordinate move-in and move-out of show cars, as well as working directly with car show management.
Saturday 3/13/10 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

VIP Yacht Hospitality Manager (1 position)
Exciting role as coordinator and host to VIP’s aboard the yacht
during race sight-seeing. Will make for an close up
experience of the racing action.

Mid-Week Awards Ceremony Assistant (2 positions)
Helpers will need to help coordinate mid-week awards
ceremony for Star and Viper classes.
Wednesday 3/10/10 from noon to 6:00 p.m.

Mid Week Party Assistant (6 positions)
The Mid week party will take place at Coconut Grove Sailing Club, and will signal the arrival of all Miami Sailing Week sailboat classes to the event. Assistants will help coordinate set-up and tear-down, and guest arrivals.

Saturday Awards Party Assistant (8 positions)
The final Awards Ceremony will take place at Peacock Park. The highlight of the night will feature the presentation of the historic 83rd Bacardi Cup, along with a host of awards for different categories.
Helpers will need to help coordinate event set-up/tear-down
activities, guest arrival, and event functions).
